DIY Fabric Posters

Image
I made this DIY for fun! If you have old clothes that you don’t wear anymore, but still like how it looks or a certain design on it, then this DIY will be fun for you to create!   The first poster I made was with an old nightshirt I had.  I really liked how the shirt looked with the “Why Stop Dreaming When You Wake Up?” quote on it and didn’t feel like throwing or giving it away, so instead, I decided to repurpose it.  To repurpose it, I cut the shirt down to the size of a rectangular poster and then stapled it onto a poster board (tip: I suggest that you should glue it on since that will hold it better and make it look nicer).  I didn’t have glue at the time I made this DIY, so I improvised.  I then hung it on my wall with clear tape and it looked super cute, especially at night, since it was a glow-in-the-dark nightshirt!  The second poster I made was with one of my old summer dresses I used to wear.  It was a yell...

Telephone Table Organizer

Image
Hello everyone!  Welcome to my first DIY project that I will share!  If you have an entry or telephone table near your front door and place your everyday to-go objects on it, then this DIY is perfect for you!    What you will need: One big cardboard box (shoe box or a frozen pizza box) Various smaller size boxes that can fit in the bigger box (I suggest 3 so you have an open space for bigger items that you need to store) Construction paper, scrapbook paper, fabric, or foam  Hot glue or regular glue Scissors Tape (optional if glue is not available at your disposal)  A creative mind :)  I created this DIY Telephone Table Organizer for my dad because he always kept his items that he needed with him everyday on our telephone table.  Once I saw how messy the table appeared frequently from all the papers and objects he placed on it, I decided to reorganize it for him so he would have a much easier access to his everyday on-the-...

Video Mashup

Image
This week, we were asked to make a video mashup with our audio mashup we created a few weeks ago.  I used iMovie to create my video. Making this video mashup was fun for me to create, but was also very time consuming.  I believe that I was successful in bringing it all together and finding video clips for each audio sound in my song.  I wanted to make an upbeat and fun video to match my audio clip and I think I was successful in doing that.  I chose many random clips, but was also trying to make it somewhat cohesive with the video graphics and dance clips I chose.  My favorite clip is the band playing the xylophone because I think it fits well with the xylophone sound I chose in that part of the song. The music in my audio clip sounded upbeat and I wanted to include some hip hop dance clips to make it like a dance video.  I chose the ballet dance for the last clip because I thought it fit well and was calming with the ...

Soundation Project

This week in my Digital Media class, we learned how to make our very own audio mashup using the application, Soundation . Learning how to use this application was fun, but also very frustrating and time consuming. When exploring the different sound effects it had, I was most interested in how each effect that had the word "Synth" in it sounded. It sounded like each had a electronica/pop sound to it, which I liked. I wanted to make an upbeat song and wanted the sounds to be similar, but different to each other. All of the sounds I chose had Synth in the title, such as "130 SynthSidechained C. wav" and "120 SynthSong C. wav." Combining some of the music was fun to do, but it was frustrating trying to figure out how to end the song and make the volume go down when it ended. I do, however, like how the song sounds when it first starts and the repetition of some of the music I chose to use. I was trying to make it sound like a song with the chorus musi...

Typology Project

Image
This week in my digital media class, we were asked to create our own typology grid based off the work of Bernd and Hilla Becher.  We had to take 16 photos that were similar, but different.  I decided to take 16 pictures of 16 permanent markers I had in my art supplies.  We had to use Pixlr's Advanced Photo Editor to edit them and create a 4x4 grid.  The hardest thing in doing this project was taking the pictures because I tried to place them all evenly on the white paper I used for the background, but some of them show more of the black marker below the colored caps more than others.  Although each picture isn't exactly perfect to each other, I am overall very pleased with how my typology grid turned out and the rainbow colors it makes as a whole.

Urban Landscape Animoto Video

For this week’s assignment in my digital media class, we were asked to create a 30 second video clip using our “Urban Landscape” photos that we took.  For this video, I got out of my comfort zone a bit and challenged myself to create a video that had a dark theme to it. I chose the song “Warriors (Instrumental)” by Skye Holland because I loved how dramatic and deep it sounded.  I felt like it complimented my photos well and selected my "darker" Urban Landscape photos to give my video dark feel to it.  Although I like music that is happier, I am content with how it all came out in the end. Urban Landscape Adventure

Ancient Chain (Edited) ,  a photo by    lila015 on Flickr This past week, I went on a photo shoot for my Digital Media class.  We were asked to take 20 photos around our city based on the theme "Urban Landscape."  During my photo shoot, I was looking for many old abandoned buildings, and urban decay on objects, such as on the chain shown here.  I took this photo in my own garage and I saw the rusted old chain attached to the garage door.  The moment I saw it, I knew I wanted to take a picture of it because of how old and rusted it looked with all the cobwebs around it.  I titled it  Ancient Chain because of how decayed it looked and it kind of reminded me of an old rusted pirate ship chain with all the debris surrounding it.  I took this raster-based image with my 7 megapixel Apple iPod touch camera.  The image has a resolution of 2448 x 3264 which equals to 7,990,272 or 7 megapixels total, which is the maximum number...
